iM Med has unveiled the new Steelco Endoscopy Washer Disinfector, the EW1S Maxi, to complement the Steelco decontamination range.
iM Med has unveiled the next evolution within Steelco’s broad endoscope washer disinfector range, the Steelco EW1 S Maxi. Founded on the existing single scope per chamber EWD, the EW1S, the EW1 S Maxi has been developed in conjunction with leading decontamination specialists, as an evolved EWD which combines compliance with ease of use, resulting in an optimum process for endoscope decontamination. With an 18-minute cycle time, the Steelco EW1 S Maxi is a stainless steel and glass constructed single scope per chamber EWD with a unique automated endoscope connection technology, which further enhances the existing benefits of the Steelco patented One Connection System across the entire EWD range.
Ergonomic design features Prioritising the operator’s ease of use, Steelco continuously strives for excellence in the development of their decontamination range. The EW1 S Maxi is no exception, having been designed with an ergonomic chamber loading height, handsfree automatic door
opening and a large decontamination chamber, with the basket designed to compliantly decontaminate the largest of endoscopes. An integrated RFID system enables both endoscope and operator automatic identification, further streamlining the loading process while eliminating the risk of error.
The One Connection System The Steelco One Connection System (OCS) is a patented innovative technology for endoscope connection, reducing the risk of error by only connecting the endoscope at the start of the process at the manual cleaning stage. The OCS remains connected to the endoscope throughout the decontamination journey of manual cleaning, EWD reprocessing and loading into the drying cabinet, so the operator does not have to repeat this process, eliminating the risk of human factor error, reducing scope handling and a reduction in overall risk. The OCS system delivers a significant reduction in contamination risk throughout the decontamination journey. This is of particular benefit when removing the endoscope from the washer to place in a dryer, as the OCS connection only requiring handling to place the endoscope into the dryer, enabling the safe aseptic handling of the endoscope.

The EW1 S Maxi Automated One Connection System The EW1 S Maxi design has further evolved the unique OCS system with the development to automatically connect the OCS into the chamber without operator intervention. On closure of the door and first staging of the process, the OCS positioned into the connection cradle on the basket, the EW1 S Maxi automatically connects the OCS into the connection point for commencement of the cycle. The evolution of the existing innovative OCS design, further reduces operator time and intervention, streamlining the loading process for a lean and error free process.
