Maintaining normothermia Maintaining normothermia has never been more important. Active warming and consistent core temperature monitoring is needed from the moment the patient enters the pre-operative area until they are discharged from recovery. It is important to continuously measure core temperature before, during and after surgery. The 3M Bair Hugger Temperature Monitoring System offers an accurate, non- invasive, continuous method to measure core temperature.
It is also important to pre-warm to increase
peripheral body temperature. Pre-warming with the 3M Bair Hugger System before induction of anaesthesia can reduce temperature drop caused by redistribution of body heat. In addition, patient temperature should be maintained at or above 36°C throughout the entire procedure. The effectiveness of a forced- air warming system is mainly determined by
blanket design and even heat distribution. 3M Bair Hugger Blankets achieve even heat distribution and efficient heat transfer through their interconnecting channel design and consistent perforations. This design reduces resistance to airflow, allowing warm air to flow quickly and evenly.
