Showcasing UK HealthTech innovation


The UK Pavilion is heading back to the Dubai World Trade Centre for this year’s Arab Health in January 2023. The show offers an impressive platform for UK healthcare manufacturers and providers to showcase the very best of talent and innovation to a global audience. The Clinical Services Journal spoke to ABHI’s Michelle Michelucci, about this year’s programme of activity.


Taking place at the Dubai World Trade Centre, Arab Health is the largest event of its kind in the MENA region – and renowned as the second largest healthcare event in the world. The show this year will feature over 2,000 companies showcasing their latest innovations to over 50,000 healthcare and trade professionals from a total of 159 countries. Together, they will demonstrate how they are driving forward sustainable and innovative solutions that can revolutionise healthcare for future generations to come. A ‘must-attend’ for the healthcare sector, the show offers the opportunity for visitors to discover thousands of medical products and solutions that are changing the healthcare landscape, from state-of-the-art imaging equipment and the most cost-effective disposables, to the latest developments in surgery and advances in prosthetics. Dedicated to helping create meaningful connections and support innovation in healthcare, the platform brings the healthcare industry together to learn, network and trade over four action-packed days. 2022 offered an exciting edition of Arab Health. Today, the show continues to draw leading international manufacturers, regional distributors, as well as healthcare service providers, who provide cutting-edge technologies and services in key areas such as: medical equipment, imaging and


diagnostics, healthcare infrastructure, and wellness and prevention. The event provides a fascinating insight into how the sector is striving to improve outcomes for patients, globally.


Showcasing the best of HealthTech Now in its 48th year, Arab Health features 39 country pavilions, including the United Kingdom. For nearly two decades the largest UK Pavilion has been organised by the Association of British HealthTech Industries (ABHI) – the leading industry association for the health technology sector in the UK. Following a brief hiatus as COVID-19 swept across the globe, with major events put on hold, the ABHI UK Pavilion was back in full force at Arab Health in 2022 with over

90 UK HealthTech companies showcasing the strengths of UK innovation and expertise. The ABHI UK Pavilion has been a staple of Arab Health for nearly two decades and each year plays host to a diverse mix of UK companies, hospitals and national partners. The space offers a vibrant hub of activity and innovation dedicated to showcasing the latest technology and talent, giving visitors a chance to see everything from live surgical demonstrations to product showcases and launches; activities which always draw sizeable crowds to the pavilion. Last year’s action-packed programme delivered a number of highlights, including a series of live lectures, fireside chats from global leaders, and surgical simulations courtesy of some of the UK’s top surgeons, as well as an opening address by Simon Penney, His Majesty’s Trade Commissioner for the Middle East and His Majesty’s Consul General to Dubai, who discussed the role of HealthTech in advancing trade with the region. Audiences at the 2022 show were also privy to a fascinating lecture by renowned surgeon Professor Shafi Ahmed, who explored the capabilities of the metaverse, and how it has the potential to shape the future of surgical education.
