TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT Updates The MyIHEEM CPD platform
As the year draws to a close, the Institute reaffirms its commitment to supporting
members’ professional development through continued access to high-quality learning resources. Central to this focus is the MyIHEEM CPD platform, offering members exclusive access to an extensive library of recorded content from IHEEM conferences and webinars, including the flagship Healthcare Estates Conference and Exhibition. The annual event delivered two full days of multidisciplinary content, combining thought leadership and strategic insight across healthcare engineering and estates management. With sessions led by industry leaders, policy makers, and subject-matter experts, the conference provided a rich source of knowledge to inform best practice and advance professional standards across the sector. A key benefit for members is that all Healthcare Estates CPD sessions are recorded and uploaded to MyIHEEM CPD after the event, ensuring full access to the complete programme of presentations and discussions. Whether attending in person or reviewing sessions later, members can revisit key topics, explore areas of particular relevance, and reflect on insights to apply within their professional roles. To further support learning, CPD record pocket guides were available at this year’s event, helping delegates easily track the sessions they attend and capture their reflective learning throughout the conference. Recording CPD through the platform is straightforward – members can log in, view sessions, document learning outcomes, and revaluate how the newly acquired knowledge can be applied in practice. This streamlined process promotes continuous learning and transparent CPD tracking to support both personal and career development. By engaging with the resources available through MyIHEEM CPD, members
can continue to expand their expertise and uphold the highest standards of professional competence.

Recently Accredited Authorising Engineers
Brendan Redington AE(V): “After over 30 years of experience in design, research, and development within HVAC for demanding applications, especially in Healthcare, Laboratory and Cleanroom applications, my AE(V) accreditation is
an important milestone achievement for me. I’ve been active in national and international standardisation work since 2015, such as in the ISO TC 209 ‘Cleanrooms and associated controlled environments’ and in CEN/TC 156/ WG18 ‘Ventilation in Hospitals’. For Specialised Healthcare Ventilation applications, we need to standardise what we do and build in Quality Risk Management right from the start of a project. The AE(V) needs to be involved from the start of the design process right through to project completion. My AE(V) accreditation will facilitate and assist me in delivering a high- quality, standardis ed approach to projects, particularly those with critical HVAC applications as per (HTM 03-01) Specialised ventilation for healthcare buildings.”
James Guthrie AE(V): “I am proud to be an approved as an IHEEM AE Ventilation, and now a member of the Ventilation Technical Platform. I believe this is a great institution and hope to be part of the continuous improvement of the guidance
and technical knowledge that IHEEM can share with all its members. “I believe that we all need to get involved with
all the technical platforms as it’s our obligation to help improve the service for the patients. I have a passion for the NHS and engineering in general and have strived to improve the built environment and operational infrastructure of the estates. I feel this is critical to help provide a safe environment for all the staff and patients.”
