TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT Local Engagement Yorkshire Branch
Our most recent branch CPD event was held on Friday 8 December 2023, with a focus on the Building Safety Act, Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES Regs), and Management of Asbestos. Our respective presenters were Mark Walker (AE) of Hydrock, Lisa Geary of DAC Beachcroft, and a double act from Gary McKendrick and Steve Hubery of Omega Asbestos Consulting, with support from Marc Watson of EFM Consulting. The event was hosted by DAC Beachcroft at tits Leeds offices. Due to planned rail strikes scheduled on the day we made the event hybrid via MS teams, and it was well attended and well received by all. In addition to the CPD aspect, we took the opportunity to socialise afterwards. A great way to get to know Branch members. Planning is in progress for our next
event, with a focus on sustainability, carbon reduction, and possible funding routes. The venue for this event will be York, and further details will be announced once finalised. I would like to actively encourage involvement with our branch, and will be looking at ways to improve how we communicate with existing and potential members. Our events are open to non-members via prior arrangement; however, priority will be given to those who are active members of the Institute. Finally, if you are interested in getting
involved with the Yorkshire Branch, please do get in touch via head office, or feel free to look me up on LinkedIn. It is a great way to grow your network, learn, and tap into the valuable experience that many of our members have.

Allan as Treasurer, and John McEwan as CPD secretary. The branch intends to use the advantages of online meetings to overcome the geographical challenges of engaging colleagues throughout Scotland. In its first regular branch meeting on 1
May, the branch will scope out its plans for the coming year for CPD and social events. The remainder of branch committee roles will be elected at this and subsequent meetings. IHEEM members are specifically invited to attend meetings, and a guest invitation is extended to all other NHS Estates professionals in Scotland to attend and create a truly inclusive collaborative professional network. The branch looks forward to playing an active role in delivering the activities of the Institute, and influencing the future activities and direction.
