Call for papers issued for Healthcare Estates 2022

IHEEM and event co-organiser, Step Exhibitions, have issued a call for papers for Healthcare Estates 2022, which will take place at Manchester Central (pictured) from 4-5 October (see www.healthcare-estates.com). The Call for Papers is open to all individuals and companies wishing to be considered for the 2022 conference; submissions must be received by 7 February.

The 2022 Healthcare Estates conference programme will comprise four parallel streams of content: Strategy and Leadership; Engineering and Facilities Management; Planning, Design and Construction, and Innovation. There will be sub-divisions within the streams so that content is organised into coherent ‘modules’.

Those wishing to submit a paper should use the link below to put forward their presentation paper proposal for

New Finance Officer

IHEEM has appointed a new employee to the role of Finance Officer. Nicola Tyler will be working closely with Chief Operating Officer, Tania Davies, carrying out a wide range of internal financial processes and transactions, as well as supporting the Membership team. IHEEM said: “Nicola is a valuable addition to the Head Office team, and we are all delighted to welcome her to the Institute.”

consideration for inclusion in the conference programme, and should include a summary – of up to 300 words – of the main points. IHEEM explains: “Presentations will be selected by the IHEEM Conference Committee on the basis of quality, originality, and relevance to the conference themes. Please indicate on the form which stream your presentation is relevant to, and what topic within that stream is appropriate. Only one stream and one topic should be selected per submission.” There is no cost for submitting a presentation, or for presenting if the presentation is chosen for the conference, and no limit on the number of submissions from an individual/company. Speakers will be entitled to a free two-day conference pass.

Where a presentation involves a case study or work undertaken with a hospital or healthcare provider, the presentation proposal must come from the hospital/ organisation, rather than the contractor, architect, or consultant, with the hospital or healthcare provider as the primary speaker.

Full 2021 AGM report in February’s HEJ

On 21 December last year, IHEEM held its 54th Annual General Meeting online via the GoToWebinar platform, and next month’s Institute News pages will include a report on the proceedings, which included the presentation of the IHEEM Lifetime Achievement Award. The Award is presented annually to an Institute member who has given long service to the healthcare sector, ‘whether in the NHS or private sector’, and has ‘made a significant contribution to their specialist field’.

The 2021 AGM also saw IHEEM President, Paul Fenton (left), report on the Institute’s achievements over the previous 12 months, and CEO, Pete

Sellars (right), discuss some of IHEEM’s future plans and aspirations. Attendees also received and considered the Annual Report and audited Financial Statements for the year ended 31 December 2020, and were notified of the latest elections to the IHEEM Council.
