INSTITUTE NEWS

Five topical themes for flagship Manchester event

The conference at Healthcare Estates was ‘a huge success’ in 2022, with more delegates, visitors, and exhibitors, than at any Healthcare Estates held previously, says Step Exhibitions, the co-organiser with IHEEM of the annual flagship conference, exhibition, and dinner. IHEEM has recently announced five Key Themes for the 2023 Conference:

1 Health & Social Care Planning How can the estates and facilities profession effectively support and influence the delivery of the Integrated Health & Social Care System’s future strategic planning requirements?

2 Governance, Assurance & Compliance of the Healthcare Estate & Infrastructure How can we ensure that healthcare estate services and critical functions relating to patient safety are compliant and appropriately managed to meet the increased governance in national policy and legislative requirements of governing bodies such as the Health & Safety Executive and the CQC?

3 Implementing Digital Technology & Innovation into the Healthcare Estate What are the key issues impacting the EFM profession in adopting and implementing digital technologies in both the existing estate and the healthcare built environment of the future?

4 Medical Engineering & Healthcare Engineering What are the technical, specialist, and scientific challenges that need to be addressed to ensure future healthcare engineering and medical engineering services are designed differently, particularly in the areas of ventilation, water safety, infection control, and infrastructure resilience?

5 Operational Delivery of the Healthcare Estate How can the estates and facilities profession continue to deliver high quality healthcare services and functions to patients as EFM personnel face increased and conflicting challenges of capability, capacity, and efficiency, particularly around workforce and the Net Zero carbon agenda?

Keynote presentations complementing the five Key Themes will also take place over the two days of the event, which takes place from 10-11 October at Manchester Central. Registration opens this month – check out the event website at www.healthcare-estates.com for the premium early booking rate to make savings on your conference place for this year’s event.

by EFM professionals is made simple by breaking down the exhibition floor into four key zones: Design & Construction; Energy & Sustainability; Engineering & Compliance, and Facilities Management. Located within each zone visitors will find a theatre providing complementary content provided by our exhibitors and partnering organisations. To view a current list of exhibiting companies, please visit the website.” Following the success of this new

feature in 2022, IHEEM is once again inviting members to take advantage of the exclusive IHEEM Members’ Lounge. Step Exhibitions said: “This key feature offers an informal space to relax and take some refreshment, to network, and to see the work the Institute is undertaking, as well as the opportunity to meet the IHEEM Head Office team, IHEEM Council, and others involved in supporting the Institute. Exhibitors, delegates, and all visitors to the event, can also learn about the benefits of the many categories of IHEEM membership on offer. You will find the IHEEM team and the Members’ Lounge at the back of the hall next to the Keynote Theatre.”
