Wales Regional event set for Cardiff in May

IHEEM, in partnership with its Welsh Branch, and NHS Wales, Shared Services Partnership, Specialist Estates Services, are joining together to deliver the annual Wales Regional Conference, Exhibition, and Gala Awards Dinner, on 11 and 12 May 2023. The conference will be held at Cardiff City Stadium, and the Gala Dinner at the Coal Exchange Hotel, Cardiff Bay (see photo). The conference theme is ‘Confronting the Estates Challenges of the Future’. It will open with a keynote from Judith Paget CBE, Director General of Health and Social Services / CEO, NHS Wales, giving an overview of the future of the NHS in Wales, followed by Nicola Prygodzicz, CEO, Aneurin Bevan University Health Board, discussing ‘The Challenges of Regional Implementation’. Stuart Douglas, Director, Specialist Estates Services, will then take delegates through what he sees as the challenges this brings for the Estates Service. The programme will include three

streams: n Workforce Development. n Compliance, Governance, and Assurance.

n Healthcare and Capital Planning. It will look to address the following challenges: n Delivery of Net Zero carbon buildings which comply with fire safety regulations.

n Making our infrastructure compliant and resilient.

n Modernising the estate to a profile which reflects the new working environment and modern digital technology.

n Investing to create the workforce of tomorrow, and creating an accreditation framework to provide assurance of professional standards throughout individuals’ careers.

n Future workforce delivery, including training the next generation, with an open floor discussion on governance around Competent and Authorised Persons.

IHEEM added: “We will also be

celebrating success by showcasing two case studies of high-profile developments in Wales – the £330 m Specialist Critical Care Centre in Llanfrechfa, and the highly complex Ground and First Floor Refurbishment scheme at Prince Charles Hospital, Merthyr Tydfil. This conference is being hosted in a great location, and in line with IHEEM’s commitment to make its events affordable, tickets are available to members at £50 per day (+ VAT). We would like to thank our Company Affiliates for there continued support, sponsorship, and involvement in our exhibitions, which are vital to the success of our events programme.” The are five awards available for sponsorship: Estates & Facilities Team of the year; Estates Champion of Champions; Capital Project of the Year; Apprentice of the Year, and Sustainability Achievement, plus an award for the best exhibitor stand. PPL Training, one of IHEEM’s

Knowledge Partners, is the event sponsor, while DRLC has kindly sponsored a limited number of delegate entry fees for NHS tradespeople (grade 4 or below), and for Authorised and Competent Persons, to allow them to attend free. To apply for one of these spaces, email events@iheem.org.uk. Online booking is available via https://tinyurl.com/52dn3kk6 To exhibit or sponsor an award,
