2022 key events in Dublin and Epsom ‘go live’
‘Delivering Sustainable Healthcare Estates’ – 16-17 May, Dublin IHEEM’s two-day ‘Delivering Sustainable Healthcare Estates’ event, sponsored by the Carbon and Energy Fund and SDDCL, will bring together the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland Branches, with a particular focus on each region respectively across the two days. Speakers at the event – taking place
at Croke Park in Dublin (pictured) from 16-17 May – will include Ministers for Health, Executive Officers from the HSE, and the National Lead for Sustainability. There will also be a Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony on 16 May. The Institute says the aim of the event is ‘to inspire educational and thought-provoking discussions’ focusing on four main areas: ‘Sustainable Healthcare Capital’, ‘Delivering a Sustainable Workforce’, ‘Planning for a Sustainable Healthcare System’, and ‘Estate Strategic Risk Management’. IHEEM said: “Attracting over 200 engineering and estates management leaders from across the combined Irish health services, with key speakers from across Ireland, it will provide an opportunity for networking and sharing of good practice across the estates and facilities workforce in The Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland health services. We are delighted to share with you the four Awards and their eligibility criteria.” The deadline is Monday 18 April 2022; submit your entries now to events@

Sustainability Champion Award This award will be presented to the exhibitor whose stand best reflects the event theme – ‘Delivering Sustainable Healthcare Estates.’ Eligibility criteria n The Award is open to Dublin 2022 Conference exhibitors only.
n The entrant’s stand should clearly reflect the event theme, and showcase what the company is doing to ensure a sustainable future for the health service.
Sustainable Project of the Year This award is limited to Irish companies/ Trusts only. It will be presented to the project or scheme which demonstrates the best overall sustainability in its design. Eligibility criteria n The award is open to Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland companies or Trusts only.
n The entry must demonstrate sustainable savings and operational efficiencies.

Sustainable Organisation of the Year This award is open to any commercial supply chain organisation (product manufacturer or service-provider to the healthcare sector) that can demonstrate a modernised and innovative sustainable approach within its service or product. Eligibility criteria n This award is open to commercial supply chain organisations only.
n The entry should demonstrate initiatives that embed a respect for human, economic, and environmental rights across a business or product’s supply chain.
Sustainability Team of the Year This award is open to any hospital Trust or organisation that can demonstrate a modernised and innovative sustainable approach within its team. Eligibility criteria n The award is open to NHS & HSE health service Trusts or organisations.
n The entry should demonstrate the use of innovation and/or innovative practices in delivering substantial savings, efficiencies, and carbon reductions to the Trust.
n Evidence of transformation of staff practices through the introduction of new technology or innovative working practices must be shown.
‘Making the Standard’ – Authorising Engineers Conference – 6 July, Epsom Racecourse, Surrey IHEEM has partnered with Air Sentry to deliver the annual Authorising Engineers Conference on 6 July 2022 at Epsom Racecourse in Surrey. The theme of the Conference is ‘Making the Standard’, with the programme developed by the Institute’s specialist Technical Platforms. IHEEM said: “This event is a must- attend for anyone providing specialist, technical engineering services to the healthcare sector.
