JULY San Francisco Ballet


at Stern Grove Festival San Francisco Ballet’s official season doesn’t start until January, but you can see the company for free in the park this summer. The company performs selections


Hamlet American Conservatory


Theater opens its 2017–18 season with Hamlet, its first Shakespeare production in 20 years. and African-American folklore, Black Odyssey follows Gulf War veteran Ulysses Lincoln as he finds his way home to his

A 24-Decade History


of Popular Music Taylor Mac’s musical extravaganza melds 246 songs (some original, many popular hits from 1776 to the present) with 13 hours of original text. Moses(es) Inspired by Zora Neale


Hurston’s vernacular retelling of the biblical Moses story, award- winning choreographer Reggie Wilson combines his experiences traveling to North Africa with extensive research into black culture, movement and spiritual traditions during this powerful dance performance. à Zellerbach Hall, UC Berkeley (510-642- 9988, calperformances.org). Imaginary Comforts, or the Story of the Ghost

Boulders and Bones Inspired by the creations of visual
