Outside Lands
The Who, Metallica, Lorde and A Tribe Called Quest headline the stacked lineup for this 10th annual biggie (though we’re most excited about non-headliners like Solange, pictured, and Bomba Estéreo). The food lineup is just as impressive—78 restaurants, 28 breweries and entire areas dedicated to chocolate, cheese and clams. à Great Hwy to Stanyan St between Fulton St and Lincoln Way (

Joan Jett & the Blackhearts at Wente Vineyards
Just try to rein in your nostalgia as the iconic rocker Jett
takes the stage this summer at Wente Vineyards’ natural amphitheater. Enjoy a preconcert sunset dinner at the Restaurant before singing along to hits like “I Love Rock and Roll.” We know you know all the lyrics.
à 5050 Arroyo Rd, Livermore (925- 456-2450,
wentevineyards.com). Aug 9 at 8pm; $89–$289.
Stern Grove Festival Stern Grove has been a SF mainstay for more than 80 years, bringing some of the biggest names in music to Golden Gate Park for free. This year we’re particularly excited about Chicago soul survivor Staples’
Mavis Staples at
appearance. The gospel, soul and R&B legend is sure to bring the house (or, in this case, park) down.
à Golden Gate Park (sterngrove .org). Aug 27 at 2pm; free.
