REBECCA MENZIES
“I’m from the north-west and I’d love to win the Grand National”
He’s a big, scopey sort and we won’t overdo it with him over hurdles as chasing will be his game and he looks very smart. “Rafferty’s Return is also one to saviour and he
could be one of the best jumpers we have ever had. He’s 17hh and we only gave him two runs last season as he wouldn’t have been able to cope with many more. He’s taken loads of time to mature and for such a big horse he is very quick over his hurdles. There is still plenty of improvement to come from him. “And watch out too for Bolton. He’s won a
Wetherby bumper but he’s bred to race on the Flat and his owner is keen for him to run on the level in the summer and he could be worth following.” A lot of the yard’s success is attributed to jump
jockey Nathan Moscrop and Menzies said: “Nathan has ridden out his claim this season, and he is a major cog in our wheel. He works for us full-time and is a great horseman. He oſten comes in early for the tricky ones and sometimes rides out in the dark. We also have a good conditional called Peter Coleman and he has taken a lot of instruction off Nathan and has a similar work ethic.”
