CLUBMAGAZINE W

hile there’s so much to look forward to this week, the Cheltenham Festival is also a time to reminisce, not least over our

betting triumphs and our disasters (always the more entertaining of the two) from years gone by. The Racing TV presenters and pundits pick out

theirs (page 8), from the despair of that Annie Power moment to the joy of cheering home the likes of Master Minded at fancy ante-post prices in 2008 – a result never in doubt. We also hear from Ruby Walsh, whose victory on

Master Minded back then, was one of an astonishing 59, as he takes us on a tour of the weighing room during Cheltenham Festival week (page 20). David Yates looks ahead to the Randox Grand

National and hears from Charlie Longsdon (page 15), trainer of the hugely popular Snow Leopardess, while we also hear from Charlie’s training colleague Rebecca Menzies, who’s enjoying a season to savour, as she describes to Gordon Brown (page 34).

Following hard on the heels of the Grand National

is the start of the Flat season proper, and our team of experts pinpoint their horses to follow (page 28) for 2022.

Donn McClean meets Emma White, formerly at

Sedgefield and now at the helm of the forward- thinking Limerick Racecourse (page 24), while we also get to know sometime-jockey, sometime pundit Lisa O’Neill a little better (page 38). And finally, we hope you are making the most of the NEW Weekend Ticket and the Club Days – turn to page 4 to ensure you don’t miss out. Enjoy the sport.
