EVENT PREVIEW | ECOMONDO 2026

Ecomondo aims to build international following

Italy’s established event for the circular economy is looking to attract a broad range of stakeholders in plastics and other sectors. By Chris Saunders

The 29th edition of Ecomondo, the Italian Exhibition Group (IEG) international trade fair for the green, blue, and circular economy, takes place from 3 to 6 November at the Rimini Expo Centre. As European policies driving the ecological transition continue to gain momentum, this year’s event – where represent- atives from the research community, industry players, and various policymakers, will come together to address the major industrial and environmental transformations reshaping global markets – promises to deliver a more global, innovation-driven, and cross-sectoral approach than ever before. The event provides a strategic platform for companies to foster dialogue, build partnerships, and unlock new business opportunities while also serving as a catalyst for start-ups, scale-ups, and SMEs operating in the circular economy, support- ing their growth and accelerating innovation. The 2026 edition aims to build on the success of Ecomondo 2025 which, according to official figures, attracted 108,800 visitors, a 7% increase, with a 9% share coming from outside Italy, and 1,850 exhibitors, 21% of which were international.

38 PLASTICS RECYCLING WORLD | September 2026 Ecomondo 2026 is further strengthening its

international profile with the aim of attracting an even higher number of buyers, delegations, and industry associations from all continents, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) and the Italian Trade Agency (ICE).

Growing network Through a multi-stop ‘roadshow’ taking in Spain, Morocco, Germany, Hungary, and Canada, the organisers are aiming to not only build awareness of Ecomondo but also strengthen institutional and commercial ties, while expanding its international network. This network already includes Ecomondo

Mexico, a strategic platform for the Latin American market and a key showcase for Made in Italy environmental technologies; Ecomondo China, which this year has evolved into a forum held in Shanghai on 11–12 June; and the Green Med Expo & Symposium in Naples. With the involvement of new European and

international institutional partners, including the European Commission, as well as leading continen- tal agencies and key stakeholders such as the OECD and FAO, Ecomondo’s conference pro- gramme, curated by its international Technical and Scientific Committee, will feature additional summits, meetings, and conventions held in English to broaden their appeal.
