Key meeting for European plastics recycling industry


Industry leaders will gather at AMI’s Plastics Recycling World Expo in September to discuss plastics recycling progress. Here we preview speakers at the free conference


This September, leading plastics recycling industry members will converge at Brussels Expo Centre in Brussels, Belgium for a key event in the European recycling calendar. AMI’s free-to-attend Plastics Recycling World Expo takes place on 11 and 12 September and will see attendees from across the globe come together for two days of talks, exhibitions and networking. The latest in plastics recycling technology will be showcased in the dedicated exhibition offering opportunities to discuss recent innovations with the people behind them and a presentation theatre at the show will host expert talks from key figures in the industry. from European Commission Policy Officer Julia Roettgerding on the EU’s Single-Use Plastics Directive in which she will provide guidance on the calculation of recycled plastic content in products

to ensure compliance. AMI Consultant Olivia Poole then takes to the stage with an overview of the latest advances in chemical and mechanical recycling projects in Europe. After these two keynote addresses, Ole Jan Myhre, Packaging Advisor for Norner, will then deliver a presentation exploring how different recycling scenarios impact the quality of recyclate. This talk is followed by a look at reactive masterbatch technologies that can improve the quality and performance of recyclate from Nexam Chemical’s Business Manager, Henrik Brenquist. Julia Roettgerding then returns to the stage alongside Maria Vera-Duran, Project Manager at EuRIC, Monika Romenska, Regulatory & Public Affairs Manager at EXPRA, and Theresa Kjell, Head of Chemicals Policy at ChemSec, for the first panel of the event.
