cap to make it 100% recyclable, without affecting the performance that millions of consumers know and love. We’re delighted that the finished result exceeds our initial expecta- tions and actually improves the consumer experience.” An extended consumer survey confirmed that the new concept would be well received by the public. The study found that the new
cap design helps consumers squeeze more ketchup out of the bottle when it is nearly empty. Berry said this was “a testament to [our] ability to look holistically at the overall solution to improve the cap’s perfor- mance alongside its recyclability.”

Recyclable solutions Dispensing cap producer Aptar Closures has also been making inroads into recyclability of food and beverage caps and closures. It previously launched SimpliCycle, which makes the dosage valve easier to recycle by using a low-densi- ty TPE. The valves float during the recycling sorting process, separating them from the PET stream, and can then be recycled in the PP and PE packaging stream. SimpliCycle has received Critical Guidance Recogni- tion from the US Association of Plastic Recyclers, as well as RecyClass in Europe. Other Aptar developments include its All-PE Future pump for pump dispensers. This year, Aptar is launching the mono-materi- al Future Disc Top for e-commerce containers, which is a locking/unlocking ring that ensures the cap remains secure during transit to the consumer. The Future Disc Top closure is Amazon ISTA-6 compliant. A series of three innovative disc top dispensing solu- tions will be introduced globally by Aptar in2024 for beauty, personal care and home care applications. The group said: “The locking ring feature aims to ensure customers are getting the packaging
