MACHINERY | ENERGY MANAGEMENT

The units are equipped with pump efficiency module (PEM) as standard, controlling the speed of pumps and resulting in high energy efficiency. Compared to conventional technologies that use uncontrolled peripheral pumps, they can achieve power savings of up to 92%, says the company. “The new series sets a new standard for sustain-

ability, energy efficiency and user convenience,” said Dave Palmer, general manager for UK at ICS Cool Energy. “It delivers reliable temperature control and superior performance while reduc- ing energy consumption.” Key features and benefits include: high efficien-

cy, thanks to centrifugal pumps with speed control; advanced control systems, including a 7in multi- touch display; and sustainability, with significantly reduced electricity consumption. A unit with a centrifugal pump in control mode, in a typical three-shift operation (under production conditions with the flow rate at 85l/min and heating capacity at 27kW), annual energy use can be as low as 1,160 kWh, according to the company – provid- ing both cost and environmental benefits. “A focus on reducing our customers’ carbon emissions and optimising process conditions drives and shapes our offering,” said Palmer.

One highlight was the Flosense thermal management/mould monitoring system. Flosense

provides optimum control over mould- cooling, to improve part quality and reduce

cycle times. The Flosense IQ-One interfaces with the dedicated TCU/mould heater and controls pump speed and temperature – which helps to reduce energy consumption and optimise the thermal process. At the same event, Sonics & Materials, a supplier of ultrasonic plastics welding equipment, introduced a new DX Series OEM DSP power supply at NPE – the DX800 – which offers energy savings, increased throughput with faster welds and advanced data capture and control. The DX800 offers time and energy control with an LED bar graph for easy-to-view activity monitoring and error status.
