The one-piece design cuts part production time significantly, lowering production costs while allowing for fully automatic high-volume produc- tion. The valve meets ISO 13485 and the MDR regulation, and is fully validated and ready for clinical tests. Johnsen says the valve can be sterilised yet maintains functionality. Colorants count Avient has launched Colorant Chromatics, a line of high-temperature and high-performance colorant formulations for medical instruments that allow for the colour-coding of devices without compromis- ing safety to chemical resistance. Its pre-coloured Colorant Chromatics solutions stem from its Transcend Premier Healthcare Colorants line and are made from polyphenylsufone (PPSU) resin, says Anne Hippert, General Manager. The PPSU resin can withstand up 1,000 auto- clave cycles and high heat sterilisation up to 150°C while providing chemical resistance against harsh chemical agents for cleaning and disinfecting, which can diminish safety and colour. Colorant Chromatics are fully bio-compatible and tested to ISO 10993 standards. The company announced a successful collaboration with a global customer and manufacturer of medical devices that used the pre-coloured solutions to colour-code its orthope- dic devices, making differentiation easier.
