Profile: Vulcaflex is an Italian manufacturer of coated PVC film, and was set up in 1947 as a producer of calendered synthetic leather. It diversified into coated film in the 1960s, and in 1965 moved its based from Milan to its current location. Its products are used in four main areas: automotive, packaging, fashion and industrial applications. It is one of the founding partners of the Vinyloop PVC recycling plant in Ferrara.
Product lines: Its mono- and multi-layer packaging products separate into three areas: technical, pharmaceutical and food. Its food packaging is often made by laminating PVC and polyolefin films together. The company offers a broad range of products for automotive interior trim, including materials for door panels, instrument panels, seats, sunvisors and wheel covers. It supplies a range of synthetic leather to the fashion industry, as well as supplying products for industrial applications such as furniture and stationery.
Factory locations: The company began with a single manufacturing location in Milan, but moved this to Cotignola in the 1960s. In 1986, it incorporated a new company called Vigotex, giving it a second plant. Later, it opened a third plant in Cotignola, which specialises in finishing. Vulcaflex says that it exports more than 75% of its total output.
