EXTRUDER OF THE MONTH

Fratco Head office:

CEO: Founded:

Ownership: Profile:

Monticello, Indiana, USA Chris Overmyer 1923

Private

Fratco, founded in 1923, is a US-based producer of both high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and high-density polypropylene (HDPP) corrugated drainage pipe for the agricultural, commercial and residential markets – as well as custom products for specialist applications such as sports facilities. The company also makes clay tiles.

Product lines:

The company offers a wide variety of drainage products including both single- and double-wall pipe. Single Corr is its single-walled pipe available in sizes of 4-24in, while Smooth Corr is the double-walled version – but available in diameters up to 48in. Flex Corr – available in sizes of 4-15in – is its line of dual-wall pipe that it claims can be in half the time of traditional two-wall sticks. Tru Flo is recycled single-wall HDPE pipe designed for less demanding projects such as recreational facilities. ProCorr is its dual-wall HDPP pipe that is designed to perform under harsh conditions – as it has a greater stiffness than HDPE pipe and can replace both concrete and metal pipe for heavy-duty projects. Fratco also makes fittings, accessories and all-in-one water transport systems.

Factory locations:

Fratco operates from five plants – one each in Indiana and Illinois, and three in Iowa (including one that makes clay tiles). The company is also building a sixth plant – in Fort Payne, Alabama – that will create up to 60 new jobs on completion. The 42,000 sq ft facility will produce pipe in diameter of 3-18in – with plans to expand this to 48in as the plant develops.
