Simona profits fall in 2024 despite sales rise


Germany-based Simona says that profits declined in 2024, despite an increase in sales volumes. Group revenue fell


around 3% to €581 million, while profitability (EBIT) declined by 27% to nearly €39m.


All three sales regions


reported downturns. Sales in the EMEA region fell by nearly 4% compared to the previous year, and by 2% in the Americas – despite high demand from the chemicals and semiconductor indus- tries. Plastic sheet accounts for the bulk of business in this region. In Asia-Pacific, business fell by around 3%, though it held on to business in China and India. In terms of business lines, the industry division saw a 5% dip in revenue, despite higher volumes. This was driven by lack of demand for fluoropolymers. Infra- structure enjoyed a 7% rise, thanks mainly to the market for energy transition in


our adjusted revenue guidance.”


Simona says it reached

Visitors up 13% at this year’s Chinaplas


This year’s Chinaplas – held in Shenzhen in April – saw a rise in both exhibitors and visitors. Visitors rose 13% to exceed 281,000, while the number of exhibitors was up 18% to more than 4,600. Overseas visitors, including those from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, exceeded 68,000 – 141% higher than the previous event in Shenzhen. This showed the event’s “significance in fostering international trade cooperation” said the organiser, Adsale.
