approach and HDPE pipes, project owners esti- mated an overall 25% savings compared with other methods.
Data cooling
Agru has also supplied a PE 100-RC piping system to a new data centre in Poland. The centre, owned by Data4Poland, uses the piping as part of its cooling water system. “The ever-increasing dependence on digital services requires server rooms that can withstand the highest loads,” said Agru. “Reliable cooling of the data servers is particularly critical here.” The heart of the cooling system is a piping system that connects the heat exchangers to the server rooms. The pipelines were designed to operate with water at 18-23°C and a pressure of 2.5-3 bar.
Agru supplied the PE 100-RC pipes and fittings for the cooling system. The pipes have diameters of 75-280mm and were joined using butt welding and electrofusion fittings.
PE 100-RC is characterised by special crack
resistance and long-term reliability. This is an advantage for exposed pipe systems, as the material increases operational safety, especially for welded joints, says Agru. Its high UV resistance also makes it suitable for outdoor installation, while the material can also cope with temperatures below freezing. It can also absorb water hammer and vibrations. Because it also provides basic insulation for the piping system, less insulation material is needed. Because of the lower weight of the plastic pipe, the pipe clamps are also subject to less stress. During the construction process, an external auditing company supervised the work to ensure that the high technical standards of the products supplied were maintained during installation.
