NEWS Teraplast sees sales boost in 2024

TeraPlast of Romania reported a rise in sales – but flat profits – in 2024. The company, which

produces a variety of products including both pipes and profiles, saw a 34% rise in sales for the year, reaching nearly RON900 million (US$196m). At the same time,

profitability (EBITDA) remained static at around RON51m (US$11m). The company said this refected its strategy to increase market share, plus the impact of price pressures and contraction in some European markets. Turnover in the pipes business (called ‘installa- tions’) grew 28% to RON642m (US$139m), driven by increased volumes and the consolidation of new subsidiaries. At the same time, EBITDA rose 3% to RON54m (US$12m). This is the bulk of TeraPlast’s business, accounting for 71% of sales. Its windows business, which account for 6% of sales, grew 3% to RON52m (US$11m), with EBITDA up fourfold to around RON2m (US$430,000).

“Our evolution in 2024

reflects the mix of organic growth and growth through acquisitions, over the fluctuations in European markets,” said Bogdan Crăciunaș, chief financial officer of TeraPlast. The company also

increased sales volume by 46% – with nearly 110,000 tonnes.

12%, sales by a similar amount and profits by nearly 70% -- reaching a turnover of RON1 billion (US$217m). “Starting in the second

half of 2025, we expect the synergies generated by new subsidiaries to produce visible effects,” said Crăciunaș.

n TeraPlast has bought the PVC and PE pipe assets of Wavin Hungary from Orbia. The value of the transaction is €7m and involves around 12,000 sq m of buildings and 40,000 sq m of indus- trial land located in Zsám- bék, 30km west of Buda- pest. The equipment acquired has an annual

production capacity of 12,000 tonnes of pipe. TeraPlast – through its

Polytech subsidiary – is expected to begin operat- ing the factory in the second quarter of this year. It operates two factories in Hungary – Polytech and Pro-Moulding. www.teraplast.ro
