PCR expansion Gealan – a window profile maker owned by Veka – has expanded its use of recycled material. It recently installed a new silo at its production and logistics site in Tanna, Germany. The new silo is also the largest of the containers

in Tanna. Its 277 cubic metres of storage volume will hold around 175 tonnes of recycled PVC granulate. In future, Rewindo material – PVC granulate

material used, said the company. Jelmer Bijlsma, manager for sustainability and

innovation at Kömmerling in the Netherlands, added: “This is a first in the industry and we consider it an important step in the development of sustainable building materials. This innovation already saves around 6,000 kilograms of CO2

In the frame Rehau of Germany says it has developed a new type of window frame with its Artevo system. The concept is an extension of its Geneo profile

system, and also uses the company’s Rau-Fipro X material in its construction. Rau-Fipro X combines two separate materials: glass fibre-reinforced PVC for the inner core, and a calcium-zinc fortified PVC for the outer layer. The strength of the material means that profiles can be made with almost no need for steel reinforcement. It can also be used as the basis for larger window frames, says the company. “Integration of Rau-Fipro X in the entire profile

75% recycled material. In addition, the LowE film used on the windows can be recycled along with the frames themselves. “Artevo shows how we

increase the performance of our systems and develop them further together with our part- ners in their interest,” said Frank

Georgia facility US-based window profile extruder Andersen has begun work on a US$420 million manufacturing and logistics facility in Henry County in Georgia. The company says that the new facility – oper-

ated by Renewal by Andersen, its window replace- ment division – will create 900 new jobs. Opera- tions are expected to begin in 2025. “We are thrilled to be expanding our operations,

accelerating our growth and adding to our broader team in Georgia,” said Chris Galvin, president and CEO of Andersen. The facility is Andersen’s first manufacturing facility in Georgia. It will initially support Renewal by Andersen, with capacity to expand in future. Andersen and its subsidiaries have more than 20 manufacturing and distribution facilities in North America. The Renewal by Andersen division manufactures, sells and installs replacement windows to customers across the US.

Sustainable ASA Ineos Styrolution has introduced its first sustain- able grade of ASA – which

was recycled material – and the company plans to keep increasing this. Veka as a company has a target to become climate neutral by 2045. “Since the construction sector is one of the most emission- and resource-intensive industries, we can actively contribute to achieving the global climate protection goals,” said Andreas Hartleif, CEO of Veka Group.
