Exhibitors sign up for new US plastics shows in Cleveland


More than 100 companies have already booked booths at three free-to-attend plastics industry tradeshows that make their US debut next year. Organised by AMI, the Extrusion Expo, Plastics Recycling World Expo and Compounding World Expo will be co-located in the two largest halls at the Hunting- ton Convention Center in Cleveland, Ohio on 8-9 May 2019.


Building on the success- ful launch of AMI’s com- pounding and recycling shows in Essen, Germany, in June of this year, the new Cleveland event is shaping up to be the largest plastics industry gathering in the US next year. It will include five free-to-attend conference theatres, plus a networking party for attendees and exhibitors at Cleveland’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on the evening of 8 May.

Trex boosts sales by 25% in first half of year


US-based decking and railing manufac- turer Trex raised sales by 25% in the first half of this year. The company reported a turnover of US$378 million for the period – driven by a strong second quarter that delivered a sales growth of 31%. Sales of its residential products in the


first half rose 14% to US$344 million, while its commercial products contributed another US$33m. “Residential products led the way with a substantial year-over-year revenue gain,” said James Cline, president and CEO. “We are also pleased with the progress of commercial products, as revenue increased

9% compared to first quarter levels.” Gross profit for the half-year, at US$168m, was an increase of more than 25% over the corresponding period in 2017. For the second quarter, gross profit exceeded US$91m – a rise approaching 30%. Looking ahead, the company expects to


raise sales by 23% in the next quarter of the year. “For the third quarter of 2018, we expect consolidated net sales of $173m, com- prised of US$154m from residential products, and US$19m from commercial products,” said Cline. � www.trex.com
