Orbia sees extrusion

GF piping division reports decline in interim results


Georg Fischer Piping Systems (GFPS) has seen interim results fall in 2024. This year, it reported


half-year sales of CHF993 million (US$1.2 billion), nearly 7% lower than the same period last year. It also reported a


profitability (EBIT) of CHF129m (US$151m) – a fall of around 9%. The dip in results was ascribed to poor weather in Europe causing a “slow start” to the year. However, this was partially offset by projects in Brazil and Indonesia. Currency effects also affected sales by CHF61m, and profit by CHF15m, it said. The number of employ-

Tessenderlo’s industrial solutions division – which includes pipe maker Dyka – reported a decline in the first half of the year. Sales in the division fell by around 9% to around


€349 million (US$385m) while profitability (adjusted EBITDA) fell by 31% to around €36m (US$40m), it added. Dyka’s sales fell due to lower construction demand,

Wienerberger of Austria reported flat sales and a drop in profits in the first half of the year. It reported sales of €2.2 billion (US$2.4bn), almost identical to the same period in 2023. At the same time, EBITDA fell 24% to €341 million (US$376m). The company said weaker market demand forced it
