Broadway adds compounding line and underwater pelletiser

UK compounder and masterbatch supplier Broadway has expanded its production capabilities with the launch of a new Useon compounding line, featuring the advanced SAT-65 twin screw extruder and UWP500 underwater pelletiser. The new production line can offer a throughput of more than 500 kg per hour The company said the new produc- tion line enhances its ability to efficiently produce larger lots of high-performance plastic compounds and increases total manufacturing capacity by up to 2,000 tonnes/yr, while expanding the range of poly- mers Broadway can process. The new line supports the produc-

tion of technical compounds with high-concentration colours and additives, said the company. “As we continue to grow, the addition of our latest compounding line represents a major advancement in our manufacturing capabilities,” said Stephen Rayner, Technical Director. “It increases our production capacity and, most importantly, broad-

ens the scope of polymers we can run. Combined with our in-house technical expertise, this line opens the door to new markets and allows us to experi- ment with novel materials. We can further expand our already extensive portfolio into areas that have previ- ously not been possible.” Regarding its underwater pelletiser investment, Broadway noted that soft polymers are difficult to cool and cut consistently with a strand pelletiser,

while rigid materials become brittle when cooled in a water bath, making strand pelletising challenging. Strand pelletisers require extended cooling and handling whereas underwater pelletisers cut material directly at the die face while submerged, eliminating the need to form strands before cutting. The newly-commissioned com- pounding line is already in operation. https://broadwaycolours.com
