Celanese restructures polyamide 66 business


Celanese is introducing a series of strategic initiatives designed to enhance capabilities, strengthen competitiveness, simplify its manufacturing footprint, and prioritise continuity of supply within its Engineered Materials business. To this end, it is repositioning its polyamide business to create a “more competitive and resilient” platform and closing its Sakra, Singapore, unit, as well as optimising polyamide 66 polymerisa- tion production facilities in Richmond and Washington in the US. Celanese expects to


operate the Sakra facility until the end of July 2026 to ensure a smooth operation- al shut down. In 2024, Celanese closed


its PA66 and HPN polymeri- sation units at Uentrop in Germany, and also its compounding operation at Mechelen in Belgium, which it gained in its acquisition of DuPont’s engineering thermoplastics business.


Moisture measuring device


Coperion has introduced the DewTector, a new moisture measuring device designed to provide reliable, automated online measurements of surface moisture content in bulk materials, particularly plastic pellets. Traditionally, moisture

Bormioli Pharma, a Gerresheimer company, and Milliken, have partnered to support the use of the latter’s Lenex UltraGuard additive technology designed to enhance polymer performance, protec- tion, and processing efficiency, for demanding pharmaceutical packaging. The additive products enable up to 40% improved moisture barrier perfor- mance in HDPE packaging, enabling downgauging while maintaining the standards required for pharmaceutical
