Teknor Apex acquires Danimer Scientific
Compounding group Teknor Apex has acquired Danimer Scientific, the US bioplastics producer which entered Chapter 11 bank- ruptcy proceedings earlier this year.

60,000 m² of laboratories, manufacturing facilities, and testing space. Applications for its biopolymers include additives, aqueous coatings, fibres, films, hot-melt adhesives, and injection moulded articles for single- use products such as straws, cutlery, and packaging. The company holds more than 480 granted patents and pending patent applications in more than 20 countries relating to a wide range of manufacturing processes and biopolymers.
Teknor Apex said the
strategic acquisition helps the group deliver a diverse portfolio of sustainable solutions, including recycled content, bio-based materi- als, and climate-positive additives. It also strengthens its ability to create verifiably circular and renewable innovations that maintain the highest standards of quality, helping customers achieve their sustainability goals, it said. �

Specialty chemical company Huntsman has completed a strategic review of its European maleic anhydride (MAH) business and consequently decided to close its facility in Moers, Germany. The closure is expected to be complete by the end of the current quarter, said the company. In 2024, the European maleic anhydride business generated an adjusted EBITDA loss of approxi- mately $10m. Going forward, Huntsman intends to serve customers in the European region from its North American facilities located in Pensacola, Florida, and Geismar, Louisiana.

Syensqo opens bio testing lab in France
The lab will support the development of biodegradable products
Syensqo has inaugurated a new microbiology, (eco-) toxicology and biotechnology lab in Lyon, France. This new facility is the company’s largest microbiol- ogy lab and will enhance its testing capabilities. The newly operational 550 m² facility will work closely with other Syensqo labs around the world to boost the company’s response times by improving testing efficiency and reducing time-to-market. Equipped with advanced capabilities and machine learning, the lab will support the development of biodegradable-by-design solutions, particularly in the beauty care, home care, agrochemical, adhesives, and materials markets. �
