into silos. Using a barcode reader, the material is matched to the correct silo using a database in the company ERP system, eliminating human error.
Technological support The Gericke GUC-F offers a comprehensive approach to feeding and dosing processes. Unlike PLC-based solutions, which require separate weighing electronics and programming, it com- bines all necessary components into a single package, simplifying the setup and enhancing overall performance. When comparing GUC-F to other solutions, several key differences emerge. Firstly, it provides extensive service and support for all types of bulk handling applications, and excels in mechanical integration. The GUC-F can control multiple dosing and feeding processes using one controller with pre-configured parameters, and employs sophisticated algorithms to filter out environmental effects, ensuring accuracy even under harsh conditions. It supports both analogue and digital weighing cells, and the integration of components reduces the overall cost of installation and maintenance, while frequency inverters minimise the need for additional equipment. In the area of colour management, Ampacet has
introduced the Spectro PMD (Pellet Measurement Device). A vibratory feeder extracts a representa- tive sample of granules, passing them under a spectrophotometric probe for real-time analysis. The system calculates Delta E values, comparing the granules to predefined standards and issuing instant alerts if deviations exceed thresholds. The granules are then returned to the production stream, ensuring zero material waste. Operating autonomously with Industry 4.0 integration, the Spectro PMD maintains consistent colour quality with minimal manual intervention. Housed in a specialised cooling cabinet, it withstands heat, dust, and vibrations, making it ideal for any production environment. For more information on
Spectro PMD and other Ampacet technology, see feature on Colour Measurement on page 29. At Fakuma 2024, Movacolor invited interested
parties to experience its Portable Touchscreen Controller (PTC), designed to provide more control over the production process, first hand. It has been available with all Movacolor gravimetric and optom- etric solutions since last October. The PTC is portable up to 15 m because it’s connected to a single cable, making it possible to place it at different locations, and features a sleek, 8-inch full-colour touchscreen with ergonomic design. It provides storage for up to 1,000 recipes in basic mode, allowing for quicker and more efficient workflows and allowing the user to manage up to 15 gravimetric solutions from a single device. Multiple mounting options, including screws, ties, CMB, VESA, and magnetic mounts, make it adaptable to virtually any environment. Movacolor has also introduced Basic Recipe Mode (BRM), which enhances software functionality and user experience. It also allows supervisors to save repeatedly used recipes, making the opera- tor’s job much easier because they can quickly switch between different recipes. When activated, BRM prevents operators changing critical settings and lets them run a pre-formulated list of recipes within a matter of seconds, simplifying workflows and boosting productivity.
