Steer Engineering says the ‘fractional lobe geometry’ special elements for its Omega series twin screw extruders are proving well suited for use in biomass compounding applications. These elements are designed to enhance process efficiency and quality of output, while delivering greater returns on investment. They are claimed to enable compounders to increase production capacity by up to 25% due to their increased volume and higher torque capacity. Steer claims the technology facilitates improved


extruders to Japanese company Biomass Resin Holdings. The extruders are said to be helping accelerate the development and commercialisation of its Rice Resin compounds, which combine inedible rice with polyolefin resins. The materials are suitable for production of items such as rubbish bags, shopping bags, cutlery, and toys.
