Solvay will introduce a new high heat resistant and flame retardant addition to its Xydar liquid crystal polymer portfolio that is said to be designed to meet the critical safety demands required for EV battery components such as module plates for emerging high voltage systems. The glass reinforced Xydar LCP G-330 HH is an inherently flame retardant polymer that offers good flow characteristics allowing it to achieve thinner parts than possible with polycarbonates or aero- gels, the company says. “New regulations in Europe, China, the United
States and other countries are increasing the demand on battery components to withstand temperatures from 300°C to 1,000°C for an extend- ed window of up to 15 minutes,” according to Brian Baleno, Head of Marketing, Transportation at Solvay Materials. “Our new Xydar LCP grade combines this high safety potential with exceptional processability.” �
