The Antwerp-based pilot organisation BRABO has granted a major upgrade contract for its Full Mission Simulator to MARIN. This award is especially impor- tant because it is the first time MARIN’s simulation technology DOLPHIN will be delivered to third parties.

MARIN has to achieve three major mile- stones as part of the contract. In early 2014 the latest version of its MERMAID simulation technology will be delivered and this will be followed by two sequential deliveries of the first DOLPHIN releases in mid-2014 and early 2015. BRABO is responsible for all vessel handling

inside the huge Port of Antwerp and has approximately 100 pilots and boatmen. As well as pilotage the organisation also deals with line handling and other activities. The first project that MARIN conducted with BRABO was in 2008 with the delivery of the Full Mission Simulator. In the following years, the facility served its core purpose as a pilot training facility but it has also been used for quite a few nautical safety studies investigating possible changes to the wet infrastructure. MARIN is pleased with the confidence that BRABO has shown in the organisation and it looks forward to entering the next era and continuing this strong relationship.

Asia Pacific Maritime March 19-21, 2014

For the first time MARIN will be present at Asia Pacific Maritime in Singapore. Meet us at stand J37 within the ‘Maritime by Holland’ Pavilion of HME (Hall E) to discuss the latest technologies we offer the shipping and offshore industry.
