Terran robot for selective spraying

At the Expoagro 2020 exhibition, Plantium presented Terran, the autonomous electric robot for selective spraying that is de- signed to reduce the compounds used by up to 90%. The Terran spraying robot, which is controlled remotely, uses satellite navigation and pre-mapped routes for se- lective variable rate spraying. According to Plantium, characteristics such as flow, pres- sure and size and quantity of sprayed drop- lets are also pre-defined. The load capacity is 600 litres, which is good for 50 hectares; the working width is 10 meters and the maximum speed 18 km/h. Terran works with two power sources: a generator that charges the batteries or alternatively the batteries can power the machine directly. In both cases, the robot can run autono- mously for 8 hours. Charging the batteries takes 3 to 4 hours. In the near future an on- board weather station will be added to measure wind speed, relative humidity and temperature. Based on these variables, the computer will optimise application, in or- der to minimise drift and achieve the best possible coverage.
