Step Six: Implement Training Another important piece of electrifi-

cation is training. “Kingmore provided the initial training to the transportation admin staff, specific bus drivers, transporta- tion driver trainers, shop mechanics, local and regional EMS personnel, our locally used towing company, town police and Sheriff’s office and fire chief,” added Steven Bagley, Jr.,

director of transportation for Culpeper County Schools. “Basically, anyone that would have to respond to an emergency on the bus was trained on that day to ensure that everyone un- derstood the special requirements for handling an emergency on an electric bus to include the special number markings, high voltage wires, battery deactivation and fire control.”

Listen to the School Transportation Nation podcast, Episode 161, to hear

from Tim Ammon, the recently appointed vice president and general manager of passenger services for Zonar Systems. Ammon discusses questions directors should be asking prior to purchasing an electric school bus. Listen to the podcast at stnpodcast.com.
