Grant Treesh (continued)
However, he shared, that it wasn’t long before he got another call from Long, convincing him to apply for an open technician posi- tion at the district. Treesh said he started working for DeKalb at the end of June 2015, becoming the lead technician in May 2022. Long, who recently resigned as director of transportation for
the district, said in his nomination of Treesh that he’s an outstand- ing employee, adding that he’s also an Eagle Scout from Troop 169 in Auburn, Indiana and remains active as the troop leader. Long said Treesh attended University of Northwestern Ohio and graduated with an associate’s degree in applied sciences in agri- culture and diesel technology. “The technician that we hired to fill Grant’s vacated position was
new to the school bus world and Grant has been a great mentor, getting him up to speed,” he said of Treesh’s promotion, adding that he also sits on the School Transportation Association of Indi- ana Technician Committee and helps set up and facilitate the Bus
Inspector Competition. “I couldn’t ask for a better employee.” Treesh noted his favorite part of the job is getting to provide
the safest and most efficient transportation. He added that he is currently working on getting bus warranty work completed at the dealership. Treesh noted that the supply chain shortage has lengthened the repair process of getting a bus back on the road. Plus, he said, he sees buses sitting at the dealer more, waiting on parts for warranty repairs as well. The district has also made several upgrades to its shop as
well as technology additions. Currently, the district is running 56 propane buses and four on gasoline. “In 2018 we upgraded our old in floor bus lift,” he said of facility improvements. “In 2020, we upgraded our parts storage. In 2020, we also added an 18,000-propane tank for our drivers to fuel on site. In 2021, we upgraded our wash bay. We also purchased new computers with many more diagnostic software to better repair our buses.” ●
