fication. In addition, he holds ASE Master credentials in the school bus, automotive and medium/heavy truck categories. Weeks is from the company’s first Cus- tomer Service Center on Long Island, New York. Butch Provencher, the regional


maintenance manager for National Express, explained that Master Techni- cian Certification is earned only after all ASE certifications in their series are suc- cessfully passed. “ASE Master Technicians, who continuously work to better their knowledge and skills, are at the forefront of industry standards and are considered experts in repair and service,” Provencher added in his nomination from. “Vinson achieved his


inson Weeks possesses a total of 33 ASE Certi- fications. He is the first quadruple ASE Master


first ASE certification in October 2010 and has been an ASE Master since, gaining his Automotive ASE Master credential five years ago. Provencher recalled asking Weeks why he holds ASE


certifications dear. To which Weeks responded, “ASE certifications are important to me because they are the industry standard by which technicians can prove that they really understand the theory behind what we do in our day-to-day jobs.”


Weeks started in pupil transporta- tion five years ago, though he has been a technician for 13 years. He went to work for National Express after selling his automotive shop, in search of a 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. job due to his growing family. He had no previous


knowledge working for school buses, but the challenge excited him.


“My favorite part of the job is when I figure out a


difficult problem and [I] am able to get the vehicle back on the road, it gives me a strong sense of satisfaction,” Weeks said. ●
