West Conshohocken, PA — Heraeus Electronics has opened a new SMT applications lab at its facil- ity in West Conshohocken, Pennsylvania. The multi-million dollar investment is a fully-function- al SMT assembly line that customers can use to optimize their processes, collaborate on product development and troubleshoot issues. The applications lab provides a comprehen-

sive range of testing capabilities, including: prod- uct/process defect analysis, root cause and correc- tive action (RCCA); SEM/EDX spectroscopy (scan- ning electron microscopy with energy dispersive X- ray); Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR); thermo-gravimetric analysis (TGA); differ- ential scanning calorimetry (DSC); die-penetration testing, cross-sectioning and CT X-ray; pull and

Koh Young Offers 3D Pin Inspector

Chandler, AZ — Koh Young Technology is offering a new 3D pin inspector, KY-P3. The KY-P3, built on the company’s 3D AOI technology, is designed to deliver true 3D inspec- tion. The system is easy to set up for inspection and can be modified based on the inspection results. The company has also devel-

oped a 3D foreign material inspec- tion algorithm for its Zenith UHS 3D AOI system. The algorithm can measure and inspect all kinds of defects, without sacrificing accuracy and speed. It also improves PCB quality control by detecting foreign materials across the surface of the entire PCB.

shear testing; and wirebond analysis. One of the many highlights of the new lab is

its climate-controlled cleanroom. This allows the company to adjust the climate when working with paste customers from different geographical regions. By adjusting and replicating the cus- tomer’s climate, Heraeus can systematically opti- mize processes and successfully develop products that fit customer requirements. The lab contains state-of-the-art equipment,

including a DEK Horizon printer, Parmi SIGMAx Blue SPI, E by SIPLACE component mounter, a Nordson DAGE shear tester, and a 10-zone Rehm reflow oven. This facility is the fifth in a global network of regional labs located in key markets to provide

customers with direct access to Heraeus technical support. With the investment, Heraeus is strengthening its commitment to serving as a strategic partner for customers in the growing SMT industry. The new SMT customer applications lab will

enable Heraeus to work collaboratively with cus- tomers to resolve specific performance challenges, manage joint development projects and support

the design and simulation of processes. Contact: Heraeus, Inc., 24 Union Hill Road,
