American Tec Automates Modular Through-Hole Insertion

bor costs for manufacturers. At the same time, driven by Internet-based economic trends and unprecedented customer behavior, faster response and shorter lead times are more im- portant factors of manufacturing suc- cess than ever before. Manual insertion of through-

hole components is a highly labor-in- tensive process. Many attempts at automating through-hole insertion fall short. First, there is limited flex- ibility in product change. All nozzles or clamps are specifically made for single components. Next, there is no suitable platform to handle a wide range of material and feeder changes. Finally, the cost of product changeover is often prohibitive, since custom mechanisms take a long time to prepare and are difficult to repair when they break down. American Tec is combating these issues with the launch of its MMI (modular ma- chine insertion) ATS3030. Over the last few years, terms

technology, enhance manufacturing capability and to bring the industry as a whole to a higher level. One major

aspect of this transformation is the gathering and application of big data. American Tec has been commit-

ted to offering customers competitive solutions since its establishment. One of the pioneer distributors of SMT equipment in China, the company has grown through the relentless hard work of its experienced team of sales and technical professionals.

MMI ATS3030: Modular Machine Insertion

The MMI ATS3030 through-

hole insertion system has been de- signed to handle frequent component changes, fill some of the vacancies left by the shortage of capable work- ers, and to completely digitize pro- duction data. The difficulty of placing a wide

variety of through-hole component types has left a niche for a flexible system to fill. Components with flat areas and components with grooves can be handled by the system’s stan- dard nozzles. Two-dimensional com- ponents can also be positioned and
