My Milan
I’ve been an Inter Milan football fan since the age of five. There are two clubs in Milan: Inter Milan and AC Milan. I started going to the city as a kid with my brothers to watch the football games. As a teenager Milan was the place to buy cool clothes and records. There were used clothing shops, flea markets and record stores that had everything I was looking for. Milan was also where the big concerts were: Springsteen, the Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan. But today Milan is a place I go for the food and the art and my friends - who are both chefs and artists.
Lazy breakfast
example of 1930s architecture so make sure you take some time to check it out when you arrive. The bistro is a wonderful place to have breakfast. No eggs or bacon, because we Italians don’t really do that, but you can have a sandwich, brioche and a cappuccino.
Coffee cathedral
Pavè on Via Felice Casati has a delicious coffee selection, amazing bread and pastries and is a really comfortable place with cool music and an Italian twist. It’s the kind of place where even basics are something special.
Market insight
Fiera di Sinigaglia flea market in Porta Genova is huge and sells old records, jewellery, clothes and even furniture from the 1950s. The last time I went with my wife Lara we bought some 1960s Mario Bellini-designed telephones in bright yellow and orange. I also bought some old Billie Holiday 45s, among other things.
Pizza Milano Centrale station: Time for breakfast
From my home in Modena I either drive to Milan or I take the train. When I take the train I always have breakfast with friends at Bistrot Milano Centrale, it’s at the train station you come into from Malpensa airport. It’s an incredible
11 COMPANION
I love Dry, a very cool and hip pizza and cocktails place that’s tucked away in a little street full of art galleries called Via Solferino which is an area I really love. It’s in the centre of Milan but it feels like a very small intimate place. Five minutes walk away from there is Eataly which is in the old Teatro Smeraldo, a once classical theatre. Eataly is filled with

Save suitcase space for
Right around the corner from Eataly you’ll find the 10 Corso Como which is a gorgeous retail and culture complex selling fashion, design and art. It’s a fantastic place to buy really beautiful gifts. It was founded by the former Vogue editor, gallerist and publisher Carla Sozzani.
