LAUNCHING Vacancy Help lead the RYA Join the Board as non-executive director T


his summer, at least one vacancy for a non-executive director on the RYA


Board will be advertised to commence at its AGM in November. The Board supervises the


management of the RYA’s business and discharges the responsibilities of the directors under the Companies Act 2006. It meets up to eight times per year, either virtually or in-person in London or Southampton. The four-year term starts from this year’s AGM, with the opportunity to stand for a second term. This is a non-remunerated


role, but basic travel expenses are paid.

In memory Inspirational sailor


The RYA has paid tribute to Andrew Cassell, the Paralympic gold medallist and champion of inclusive sailing who died in March after a short illness. The 83-year-old is remembered


for his pioneering work in inclusive sailing and for his gold medal victory at the 1996 Paralympic Games, where sailing made its Paralympic debut. With a racing career spanning over

Sara Sutcliffe, RYA CEO, said, ‘Andy leaves a remarkable legacy which will continue to change lives. Our


thoughts are with his family, friends and fellow sailors.’
