hroughout this year we’re celebrating our 150th anniversary.
We’re proud of our heritage but are also looking ahead to the future, ensuring we continue to build on our passion for boating and representing the boating community. At the heart of our celebrations is a simple but important theme: people. Throughout the year, we’ve
placed a special emphasis on bringing colleagues, partners and stakeholders together to celebrate the community that drives our sport, and are delighted that our President, HRH The Princess Royal, has joined us for some of our events, most recently at Pwllheli for the RYA Youth Nationals (read more on page 59). At its core, the RYA has
always been as much about people as about governance. Sailing and boating happen because of people; instructors, volunteers, skippers, crew, ˕˔˧˕˨˜˗˘˥˦ ˥˔˖˘ ˙Ѓ˖˜˔˦ and so many others who

bring passion and expertise to the water. Every person who embarks on their boating journey is supported by a vibrant, welcoming community. It’s these human connections that make every minute on the water, every race or cruise memorable. OnBoard, our grassroots
programme giving children access to sailing (pictured), highlights how people working together make great things happen. Now, 20 years on, people in clubs, schools and training centres, and many volunteers, have helped over one million children experience what being on the water offers. Read our feature on page 22. come together like this, and at shows, events and conferences, is a pleasure. It’s clear these communities, connections and you, our members, are what make the RYA what it is today. We want to hear from
