The RYA Day Skipper/Watch Leader course is designed to provide you with a comprehensive introduction to chartwork, navigation, meteorology and the basics of seamanship. It is an integral part of the RYA Yachtmaster™ Scheme and is an essential building block of knowledge for those wishing to progress to the RYA Day Skipper practical course.

RYA Training Charts 3 and 4


Two practice Training Charts are needed to complete the exercises and assessments.


Chart 3 is a passage chart for general navigation and Chart 4 is a pilotage chart showing detailed chartlets of areas within Chart 3. They should be used in conjunction with the Training Almanac.
