Send us all your news

for the next issue of The Rider! Deadline May 25th

OTRA News May 2022 Spring has sprung... and so

have we! It has been what seems like a lifetime since our last or- ganized OTRA ride and camp- ing and by the time this month’s issue of ‘The Rider’ gets distrib- uted we will most likely have had our first outing May 6-8. At the time of writing, we could only hope that the weather would be on our side and at least stay dry! So far, we have four more

rides confirmed at the Dufferin County Forest Main Track in Mansfield – June 10-12, July 4- 10, Aug 5-7, and Sep 9-11. You can check our OTRA website www.ontariotrailriders.ca, or follow us on Facebook for de- tails and updates. Or contact any of us for questions and informa- tion. Joining is easy as all it takes is a filled-out registration

form (available on the website) and your membership fee. Once the fees are accepted and de- posited you are good to go (or ride!). This year we will also be evaluating the use of our horse ‘retainment’ methods - high lin- ing and solid panels will stay high on the list and we encour- age everyone to learn how to high line. This is a very safe and useful skill and for some riding clubs it is the only accepted way to confine your horse during the rides. With plenty of ‘old-timers’ around, help will be available at any ride. During Covid, the Dufferin

County Forest has opened the gate to the campground for extra public trailer parking. Be ad- vised that during any booked group activity the gate will be closed now and OTRA day-rid-

ers are asked to close the gate behind them when they arrive or leave. Any current member can join us for any single day of the event or join the rest for the full weekend. Due to several Board mem-

bers not being available during April and May our AGM has been postponed to June this year. Details regarding time and loca- tion will follow and can be found on our website as well as on FB. The OTRA Board of direc-

tors is welcoming this new sea- son of riding, all riders, and their mounts... Hope to see you all there!
