In addition to the ex-

The 6th annual Spring Reg-

My Turn Here we are celebrating our
53th Birthday. When we started out we were the only Western

Horse Publication in all of Canada: The Canadian Western Rider. A superb western horse owner, Chuck Aylett, designed our logo. Some say that he used Bob Sisson as the horseman in the logo.
Then we started The Cana-
dian Quarter Horse Journal then every Tom, Dick and Harriett got in on the act, all promising the sun and moon to advertisers. We had one prominent English pub- lication start a Western publica- tion so we started The English Rider. All these hot shots went the way of the DoDo bird. Guess what? We are the only Western/ English print publication still standing in Ontario. Congratula- tions to us. We have lost a lot of the
original 50’s and 60’s western horse pioneers. They helped us along the way. Big thanks to all these wonderful equestrians that were there for us. There’s not too many left. They need to be hon- oured for organizing the western horse industry of Ontario. Most equestrians think that this indus- try just happened by itself. How wrong they are. Anyway, we are not going
anywhere, at least for now. So
keep history alive and support us by sending your news and shows and remember, we only survive by your advertising and your sub- scriptions. Stuff on the internet and the grapevine eventually fade into the hundreds of millions of other things posted. Our publica- tion will survive forever in the Canadian Archives. Thanks for looking down in
this corner. It is always a pleasure for me to glean through our back issues and put memories back into focus. Remember you and you
alone are responsible to report animal, spousal, child and senior abuse. Even if you are not sure don’t be afraid to call the police for a wellness check. Thanks you for looking
down in this corner I will con- tinue to bring you a few bits from our past. The Rider is HISTORY please subscribe.
