JUNE 2023 THE RIDER /13 We Can Hustle: What is Community?

nurturing to grow into its full potential. That’s where community is to help; be- come your own best version. This brings me to the next point

By Shelby Olyschlager We have many communi-

ties all over the world. We are a giant one that gets divided down into smaller and small communities based on our life and interests. These groups can also be named a “niche” if you were to ask a marketer like myself. You may have heard the word niche before which means kind of the same as community; it is a group of people who are tied together by the things they do, the things they like, and overall the type of lifestyle they live. There always is a specific something that ties them to- gether, for us it’s horses. I am making a smart assumption here, but if you’re reading this in The Rider, chances are horses are the thing we all have in common. Isn’t that a cool thought to have as well? There is something that ties us all together. No matter who is a

stranger, if you met someone who was involved in horses, you now have a connection that brings you both into the same community; the horse community! But as I said ear- lier, we are a part of one that is the most important and the biggest community. We are all human. The human commu- nity involves everyone who also is reading this because, well you know only humans are capable of reading so here we are. A group of people who have a tie; a community of hu- mans - look at us go. I pondered the thought of

community for many years. Afterall, I based a business around building community. I had an inner fire that made me feel like community was one of the most important aspects of being human. I decided to focus on building one, hence We Can Hustle. But why is it important to be involved in- side a community? The first thing that came to

my mind was strengths and weaknesses. If we are all one community, one collective if you will, then we need every- one’s “specialness” to create the best ecosystem we can. Everyone has a “thing”. My thing is connecting; I like to connect people with what they need, whether it be a thought provoking article in a paper, a podcast

episode, an

event(which we are hosting a retreat July 8!) Or anything I can offer to help others along their journey. I am here to offer and give ideas, suggestions that are based on my own ex- periences, I am just here mak- ing things, creating and connecting. We all have our “thing”, it’s the thing we natu- rally gravitate towards. The thing that seems to come natu- ral to us and we think every- one has that gift as well, but please know; they don’t. Keep doing it, go where your spe- cialness is seen and given the

which is the idea that community is “sup- port”. Community supports you in ways you cannot support yourself. To feel the love, the togetherness and oneness in a community just fills my heart. Knowing you have people in your corner to help you on your adventures gives an extra sense of belonging and of feeling “yes, this is right, this is where I am supposed to be”. If someone is struggling inside a community, it just takes one other person to stop their life, look around at those who need help and to simply help them. To let them know, “I see you, I hear you and I am here to support you in any way I can.” Life can get hectic, we all know that, we can get narrow focused on just “self” and we forget we are a part of a huge collec- tive of individuals that might need the unique help that only you can offer. I also know we can have walls up and I know people reading this can probably name times they helped someone and it bit them in the butt after. I know we have all been through stuff that makes us hard and our hearts hidden. That’s ok. I want to end off this section with; if you do your part, you never know the ripple effects of your ac- tions; either good or bad. You choose.;You have choices. When it comes to helping those in our community, I wish you choose the one that truly feels right and that comes from a place of love and support. The saying, what goes around, comes

around I believe to be very true. With this in mind, if we envision what we want in our own lives, we have to project it out first. We are in control of what goes around, then we can wait patiently for life

to come around for us in a magical, some- times unexpected way. Therefore, be a lit- tle selfish. This is after all also a solo ride we are on, we have to be our best to help others be their own version of “best” too. We are all different, yet always a part of the same giant community. Let’s put this at the forefront of our lives and what goes around will always come around. As an active member of the commu-

nities we are in, we have to feel a sense of empathy. It can be hard to detach from our own drama of life and to bring your- self into the feelings of someone else. But it can be a very good exercise to start feel- ing more interwoven with those around you. “How would this make this person feel?” “They seem upset, can I help them?” “Woah, they just had such a good run, I feel so excited for them I want to go congratulate them!” Feelings inside a community are powerful. They basically run the show; how someone feels is how they act and their actions create the life they live and through relationships and new generations to continue. Being an ac- tive member of a community means being aware of those around you. Where is the opportunity to work with others and be- come a thriving community?

We are truly in this together. We Can Hustles’ foundation is based

on a thriving community of ambitious rid- ers and individuals who want more. More something that is specific for them; more joy, more fulfillment in the saddle, more knowledge, more self confidence, more themselves at their highest version of “self’. We all want more, and afterall that’s what we are here for! We are launching a membership site with a vari- ety of instructors to work with the Mind, Body, Ride, & Soul. We have a few more

things underway such as the Launch of WCHmedia, which is the side of WCH that makes all the content, the sites, the digital marketing etc. WCHmedia is also taking on clients to help with all media related proj- ects! If you have a business you want to make digital or an offer you want to pro- mote, contact Shelby Olyschlager or WCH- media. There is room for everyone in the We Can Hustle community.
