What prompted you to join the OCHA? I had heard a lot about OCHA through
friends I have in the Reined Cow Horse Associa- tion. I wanted to improve my skills in cutting which would help me in NRCHA, so I decided to join OCHA and show in the Ranch Cutting and the $250 Limited Rider classes to give myself a challenge.
What other equine disciplines (if any) do you compete in? I show Clydesdale horses with my husband
Darryl. I am one of only a few ladies in Ontario who drive 4-horse hitches. We have competed at two World Shows over the last ten years. I also show NRCHA - I love this sport and
the diversity of the horses that perform in it! In earlier years, I showed on the AQHA cir-
cuit in Halter, Hunter Under Saddle, Pleasure Driving and Equitation.
What do you enjoy the most about OCHA and the sport of cutting so far? The people of OCHA have been so inviting
and encouraging! The cutting horses are amazing - so talented and athletic! What I love the most is the teamwork in this
sport - we depend on our herd holders and turn- back riders so much - they are always there to give me words of advice and encouragement and are always willing to answer all my questions!
Tell us a bit about the horse you are showing now.
I show a 12 yr-old gelding named Dazzle
Disco aka “Razz” in NRCHA classes as well as in cutting with OCHA. He was bred and raised in Alberta. He has been a great partner and teacher - and he loves red licorice!
To our dear clients
and collegues
...who make being in this business a pleasure. You have enabled us to grow. You've encouraged us to do a better job and for this we are grateful. So now as this Holiday
season begins, we want to express our sincere gratitude for the part you have played in making this business what it is today. We will always do our best to justify your trust
in us and in our ability to serve you well. It means so much to us.
Thank you, Merry Christmas and may 2022 bring us a successful show season!
Do you have any specific goals for yourself in this sport? There is so much to learn in this sport! Right
now, I have very simple goals - keep my hand down, stop that cow, sit on my pockets and don’t lean!! Looking forward to next season!
WELCOME TO OCHA, SHELLEY!!
