Submission for ‘The Rider’ – December 2021 Issue

2022 OTRA Member- ship Call ... and your chance to WIN a great price!

The first snow is a

sure sign that we are ap- proaching the end of the year – F.I.N.A.L.L.Y! We are hoping that de- spite the many restric- tions this past season all of you have had a suc- cessful and safe riding season and that you were able to take advantage of some of the beautiful

weather this year had to offer.

I am happy to say

that we have secured our first OTRA ride dates for 2022. They are listed on our website www.ontari- otrailriders.com, as well as on our facebook mem- bership page and will be updated periodically. So, mark your calendars and keep checking for confir- mations and additions. The first ride/cam-

pouts confirmed are: Dufferin County Forest, Mansfield - May 6-7, June 10-12, July 4-10 (7 days), Aug 5-7, Sept 9-

11. South Algonquin Trails, Harcourt - late September

(limited

trailer space, registration and fee required!). More rides are ‘in the works’ as we speak, and we would also like to invite any of our members to add fur- ther options for us to list, like day rides, for exam- ple. I would like to add at this point that any of our rides are open to ALL levels of riders, whether beginners or experi- enced, and that ALL comfort levels will be ac- commodated! You can ride with the group of

your choice, or if you prefer, ride out with just a friend at your own pace (within the venue’s guidelines). This may be another ride/training op- portunity for any of our competitive riders to join the club and enjoy addi- tional social time! Speaking about

membership – everyone signing up for the 2022 season by no later than January 31, 2022 will enter a draw for a fabu- lous price, valued $200. Chances are pretty darn good and the draw will take place at our Annual

General Meeting April 17, which will be held at the Erin United Church. Attendance is not re- quired to win, however, if

you would like to be able to cast votes or bring some new ideas to the group, we would love to see you there.

From the OTRA

Executive - Wishing you a Happy and Safe Holi- day Season!

SuperEx, former directors of their board have chosen a variety of worthy agricul- tural causes in the commu- nity to which to donate assets. Directors Sandie Harkins and Ashley Lam- oureux chose TROtt as their beneficiary. Before unveiling

SuperEx’s generous cheque to TROtt, Sandie and Ash- ley remarked, “With the SuperEx being disbanded and our funds left to allocate to the agricultural commu- nity, we wanted to give back to the people of Ottawa and thank them for their long- standing support of the SuperEx … We personally chose TROtt, as we consider it a great organization that provides children and adults with physical, developmen- tal, and learning disabilities the chance to enjoy thera- peutic horseback riding. The subsidized lessons at TROtt

enhance the riders’ quality of life through regular phys- ical exercise and compan- ionship with TROtt’s amazing horses.” TROtt’s chairper-

son, Annie Grenon, and other board members were present to receive what had been a previously undis- closed amount on Saturday. They were astounded when SuperEx unveiled a $20,000 cheque in TROtt’s name. “COVID-19 has put a finan- cial squeeze on TROtt, just as it has on so many organi- zations. This donation will help our charity move for- ward with much-needed therapeutic programs in the community,” said Annie Grenon.

TROtt is always

in need of help from the community and urges prospective donors to visit its website at http://ot- tawatherapeuticriding.ca.
