WHAT’S NEW

LTP INTRODUCES NEW PAVING, PATIO & MASONRY SEALER

LTP Paving, Patio & Masonry Sealer can be used on honed, rough cut, flamed and brushed stone surfaces, including limestone, granite, cement, slate, bricks and blocks. As well as protecting surfaces from organic dirt, and promoting easier maintenance, it also protects against moisture ingress, helping to prevent green growth on paths, patios and walls.

The new treatment is quick drying and easy to apply. Before application, surfaces should be clean, dry and free from dirt, grime, cement and grout residue.

To prepare a newly installed patio, first clean with a dilute 1:5 solution of LTP Grimex. Apply and scrub using a nylon pad or deck brush, leave for 10 minutes and rinse using a water hose or pressure washer. To remove cement-based grout residues, use LTP Cement, Grout & Salt Residue Remover and to remove resin residues left on the surface after applying a brush-in grout, use LTP Solvex. To prepare existing and older surfaces that are covered in detritus, algae and lichen, etc., use LTP Blackspot & Algae Remover; apply, leave until the soiling disappears and then rinse.

LTP has launched a new external sealer – Paving, Patio & Masonry Sealer – to its range of protection treatments. The new water-based solution can be used on all types of stone surfaces, where it strongly repels water, oil and grease. It also helps reduce efflorescence and delicately enhances natural tone whilst allowing surfaces to breathe.

MAPEI LAUNCHES MATT-FINISH MAPESIL SEALANTS MASONRY SEALER

Mapei has launched two new matt-finish neutral silicone sealants – Mapesil Tile Matt and Mapesil Stone Matt. Suitable for all types of tile and stone respectively, the new duo combines the technical and performance benefits of a traditional silicone product with a more natural, non-glossy/synthetic finish. Resistance to surface mould and algae makes the sealants ideal for application in bathrooms, leisure settings and damp environments. A solvent-free formulation – certified EC1 Plus (very low VOC) according to GEV EMICODE – also promotes a safe, eco-friendly application.

Offered in a range of colours, the new Mapesil sealants have an oxime-curing, neutral silicone formulation with a matt finish. Mapesil Tile Matt is specifically formulated for joints in ceramic and porcelain installations and Mapesil Stone Matt is formulated for natural stone and marble. The sealants can be used alongside all absorbent and non-absorbent building materials in internal and external settings, including tiles, sanitaryware, rainscreens, prefabricated panels, doors and window fittings. Each benefits from a highly viscous paste-like consistency which is easy to extrude, apply and smooth for a clean finish on horizontal and vertical surfaces.

Once pavers are dry – after 24 hours – LTP Paving, Patio & Masonry Sealer is applied with a roller, paint brush or light pressure sprayer. Further coats can be applied at hourly intervals on more porous materials until the surface is fully saturated; this is normally achieved when a reasonably even layer of sealer is still visible 20 minutes after application. Surfaces can be walked on with light traffic after the sealer has fully absorbed and returned to full service after 24 hours. Children and pets should be kept away from treated areas until the sealer has fully absorbed and dried.

Each sealant is offered in a range of shades to co-ordinate with Mapei coloured grouts. In addition, the Mapesil Stone Matt palette also includes colours with a speckled ‘textured’ effect and coarse finish to complement tactile stones, like granite and travertine.
