Responding to the need from architects – both working and furloughed – for Continued Professional Development (CPD), BAL’s team of specification mangers have produced weekly online RIBA-approved CPD seminars.

You can watch the seminars here - and on BAL’s YouTube channel, these have been viewed hundreds of times.

Other tools made available have included live webinars on social media marketing, including creating Facebook business pages, advanced Facebook marketing and LinkedIn for business, to help tilers and contractors come out of the crisis fit and firing and ready to win more business.

BAL has also brought a bit of light entertainment in the form of a weekly Tilers Arms Pub Quiz live on its Facebook page every Friday afternoon. This has seen people battle it out with each other in a number of themed quizzes including the 80s, 90s and Noughties.

As well as this, BAL has run a bi-monthly Tile Geeks Quiz, testing out tiler’s technical knowledge. More than 200 tilers have taken part in the quiz, with 100 opting onto the leader board with lots of prizes up for grabs.

Tilers and contractors have told how the campaign has helped them through lockdown.

Elio Garden, of Carlisle Tiling said: Stay Positive, Back Stronger - BAL’s campaign through the lockdown has given tilers a go-to guide alongside a little fun with the Tile Geek quiz which looks at the tiling side of life and the very entertaining pub quiz for everything else required for site work - well general knowledge music and sport, the main stay of bait cabins up and down the country.

“BAL have been readily available to talk to, fantastic support as always. Well done BAL.”

”STAY POSITIVE, BACK STRONGER - BAL’S CAMPAIGN THROUGH THE LOCKDOWN HAS GIVEN TILERS A GO-TO GUIDE ALONGSIDE A LITTLE FUN“

Des Lewis, a tiler from Plymouth, added: “Trust BAL to come up with a great quiz to stop us tilers getting too bored through this lockdown. They have always led the way in the industry and still do. It was an ideal, fun means of testing whether we know as much as we know (never think) we all do. So, a great idea to take the opportunity whilst us fixers are sat on our bums for once and not our knees. Let’s hope that we can get off both following this COVID-19 nightmare!

Alex Underwood added: “We’re pleased that so many people have interacted and engaged with our Stay Positive, Back Stronger campaign over the last couple of months, building up their knowledge and having a bit of fun!

“Now the lockdown is starting to ease, we will continue to support our customers as they start to work safely on- site and continue to provide our wider support services to ensure they can bounce back stronger. Our close relationships with our fixers and contractors provide ongoing insight of potential issues they face on-site and we look forward to developing even more support and tools going forward to help them”
